Finding a job in the current economic client can be a struggle, from objective and emotional standpoints.
Our Career Development Center is dedicated to helping job seekers find employment. They accomplish this in a number of ways including job fairs and seasonal mixers where our clients have the opportunity to meet with employers from a variety of industries right here in Pittsburgh.
Job Fairs: Held here at JF&CS, we bring in employers that have current job openings from a wide range of industries. Our CDC counselors do a preliminary screening of candidates, and select those who would most likely fit the open positions. During the job fair, selected candidates have brief interviews with these employers, resume in hand, who then decide if they would like to further consider them for the job. The job fairs are an excellent way to find a job in your area of expertise. Job seekers meet with employers who are actively looking for new hires and are excited to meet new prospects. You’re also able to gain experience interviewing, a key part of finding a job.
Seasonal Mixers: Mixers offer an opportunity for job seekers to socialize and network with employers in a more relaxed, casual environment. Employers from various industries, including financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, non-profit, education and the energy sector, are on hand to mix and mingle with CDC clients and other outside, pre-screened job seekers. Attendees are encouraged to bring business cards in lieu of resumes. Mixers are also great for employers who want access to a wide range of job seekers with varied skills, backgrounds and interests.
